Two Vonnegut drawings
When I saw this rhyme on a Kurt Vonnegut doodle recently, it stuck with me for a few days. I liked the idea … telling yourself you understand something is akin to going to sleep or taking a rest. There is more to the rhyme:
“Tiger got to hunt, bird got to fly;
Man got to sit and wonder ‘why, why, why?’
Tiger got to sleep, bird got to land;
Man got to tell himself he understand.”
― Kurt Vonnegut, Cat’s Cradle
A somewhat similar idea I read somewhere defines a conclusion as the point where you decide to stop thinking.
