I found the photo offered as one of the quality freebies at Burst and I’m still kid enough to get a kick out of seeing local landmarks given the full treatment. Here’s the now artsy-gentrified Gladstone Hotel, documented in transition in the documentary Last Call at the Gladstone Hotel [Trailer].
If the hotel had not been reinvented, it would probably have become an abandoned derelict, so its not a bad thing that it has a new life, even though it meant displacement of its previous population. The other night at Massey Hall, the Good Lovelies mentioned their early gigs at the reborn Gladstone.
Here’s a video portrait of the place.
