A rare opportunity

It’s times like this when I wish my blog had more readers, so that I could share two slivers of time when it will be possible to visit an exceptional artist, right in his studio, and discover originals you can buy directly.

Friday, March 16th after 6:00 pm and Saturday, 12:00 to 5:00. 1024 DuPont Street, Second Floor, Unit 6. [MAP]

Fred Franzen belongs in the company of artists he admires. Matisse, Milton Avery, David Milne, Barker Fairley, Robert Motherwell … all of them would recognize his vision, skill and aesthetic judgment.

Born in Germany, Franzen came to Canada as a young man and is clearly a Canadian painter we can be proud of. The studio is packed with treasures, framed and unframed, representing half a century of work. Discerning buyers have an opportunity to pick up quality originals being sold well below gallery prices.

If you can get there yourself, great. If you know people who should know about this event, please give them this link.

Oh, and Saturday is Fred Franzen’s birthday.

    • Thanks, Karen, for arranging the studio visit. It was a huge eye-opener for me. Fred has an amazing stash of work in his studio. I’ll be going back, probably on his birthday. As I said to Fred, “He’s the real deal.”
